Apparently not. The female starves while guarding her clutch of eggs, to the point that after they hatch she is too weak to hunt and defend herself and soon dies. I guess the male can't either or he would be bringing her food or relieving her so she could hunt. They're supposed to be intelligent mollusks...I guess they are single track minded. You would think, with all those arms...ha ha ha!

Oh you bet they can. Just look at their skin, one side can do one thing and the other is doing something else. And besides with 8 arms wouldn't you?
