Do we really need a Congress? Yes. The Senate and the House of Representatives was the solution for the balance of power in the nascent United States. It was such a good solution that in the formation of the current European Union they faced the exact same problem as our founding fathers in 1789 and are adopting a Congress (senate & house) to solve a similar balance of power for the 272 members of the EU.
The question is: Do we need a Supreme Court? The answer is NO. The supreme court is an undermining influence on the balance of power and the United States is today a Judicial Dictatorship. Non-elected judges have the final say.

In its present form, no they are essentially destroying the country, bankrupting us and writing stupid laws for things that already have five laws. I mean seriously how many laws does a country need.
You can look at it a couple of ways.
First they no longer represent us, the rule us, they act like royalty, they need to be term limited, so we can have representation.
Or
the numbers of people per congressman and senator is far too large for the people to have a chance in influencing them to do our bidding. That would mean we need a much larger group of people. That could be worse than it is today, I am just not sure.
If they were to take every other year off, that would be fine with me.

Most people will say "yes checks and balances" but I see your point. We already have our laws and constitution, why do we need to alter them anymore? Congress and senate are the most corrupt in the government.
We need to return to the old common law.
Do all you agree to do, and do not encroach on others.
They seem to represent a mini mob rule system.

Yes we need Congress- it's check and balances- it would give the President all the power and then we would be a dictatorship, which sure sounds alot better to me....

on previous answer...who checks and balances them? Congress as a fuction is indeed needed. The present form, function and members, are what is not needed right now.

I don't think so. Even if Congress isn't at most times good it wouldn't benefit us to become an anarchy.

Well then who will represent you if not your elected officials?
Every single person cannot physically be represented in our government, we elect others to act in our place.
