Is it Torchic, Treeko, or Mudkip?

Mudkip-easy, good to use and strong aganist the first gym leader
Treecko-hardest
Torchic-good all around, weak aganist the first gym.

I'd say that Mudkip is most reliable, since its evolutions are ground/water.

Torchic because if you are a expert at pokemon you should get it. Treeko is for beginners and mudkip is for intermediate.
