i came across a book about motivation and there are a few things which i agree, and might answer your question. Motivation, as mentioned, should address a few needs of the audience, ranging from security all the way to a desire to improve, or perhaps a promise for improvement in one's status. Perhaps the best form of motivation then, is one which addresses any aspect of the audience which you may find threatened. Personally, i feel the best form of motivation is one which gives insight and direction, underlined with warmth and welfare. That's what i believe in at least.
Hope this helps=)

Hi Wally,
I think the best form of motivation is the one that comes from inside of you. Money is a great motivator, but personal satisfaction is better. For example, if I get a salary or a bonus for doing something that I don't really like doing, the money was the factor that pushed me to do it. But if I do something because I want to, and when it is done I am happy and satisfied, then I will want to do it again. Maybe I will even try to do it better next time.
Hope this helps

It truly depends on the person you are trying to motivate, and what you are motivating them to do. A salesperson usually is best motivated by money. A politician is usually motivated by power or recognition. A missionary is motivated by the hope of saving others. Kids are motivated by positive reinforcement or attention by parents. Etc.
Beyond that, each individual is motivated in different ways, and its a managers job to find the best motivation for each member of their staff, then reward them appropriately. There is a good paperback book called "1000 Ways to Reward Employees" and very few are monetary. Recognition is a HUGE motivator. Just knowing someone appreciates you for your hard work.
Just as the answers to your question are varied by the individual who wrote them, the types of motivation are many and varied.

Fear is a great motivator. People want better lives all the time, but remain complacent...as there is nothing 'making' them get up and do something about it. But if there is a fire under your butt...or a madman at your door...you move pretty quickly. A person may not be motivated to clean their house, but just see what happens when they get a call from a friend or family member...saying they are on their way for a visit. The fear of them finding that person sitting in a messy house will motivate them to get off their butts to clean!

There is a different kinds of motivation that work for each individual, and sources of motivation may change for a person over time as well.

Probably a good action or words by a person the person needing motivation trusts and respects a lot. The person needing motivation believes in the trusted and respected person and so believes he or she can do it, therefore is very motivated

It's you or yourself. If you want.. think always positive..positive.. Do not think glass is half filled with water but thin, it;s filled half.
Every person in this world has good stuff and bad too.So grab only good one. I know it's not easy but if one can try .. that would be possible.
So POSITIVE THINKING is the best to motivate or ti motivate other.
