Both men an women are created in God's image, so God, in some way, has to be both. If you look at the characteristics of God, he has traditional male and female attributes. I think we refer to God as father, in part because we need a name for God, and in part because Jesus called him father. As for discriminating against females, I don't really see how. God created woman because man was not a good enough representation on his own and when the two become one the image of God is made full.

What gender is the sun? What gender is a mountain? What gender is a ship? We call God Father because that is the relationship we have with Him. It's also more convenient than calling God an 'it'. In fact, God DOES give us the image that He would gather us to Him 'like a MOTHER hen'.

Which one?

Perhaps God has a Female Mate? A Father and a Mother. Is it possible to have a Father and NOT have a Mother?

Did I just answer this question with more questions?

Gender is only Nature's contraption of convenience for creativity and sustenance just as the electrical wall socket and instument plug designed for flow of electrical power to energize an apparatus. The instruments are produced, used and discarded after their intended periods of service but the electical potential and power ever remains the same. However the electrical instruments are created as the secondary products of human instrumentation by virtue of self embedded intellect and intelligence endowed primarily by nature. Now how many of us human beings really know the ultimate defintion of lives commensurate with the definition of our own bodily instrumentations although we are all the time alive and consciouss wheather in active wakeful or sleep reposing states? Mind consciousnees is to intelligent life forms what electro-magnetic (electical) energy is to gross instrumentations. Even so all energies are only experienced as transformations by conscious life forms and the Ever Existing Consciousness we may define as God has nothing to do with gender contraptions of creativity--wheather in primary or secondary forms.

God is both male and female. I don't think gender really exists in heaven(the other side). Gender is a human attribute, but i do believe that God has what we would consider both male & female characteristics.

I dont know the gender of God but to answer why it is called "him" is because men were most recognized when the bible was written. They were considerd more important than women. Why are Abraham's sons talked about and not his daughters? He only had boys? unlikely.

He is male, thats why we call him father ! Jesus is male that"s why the father called him his son. Eve was a biproduct of Adam. But no that in no way makes females less after all they can make babies !

God is a spirit, and as such has no gender. God inspired the writing of the Bible, so since He refers to Himself in the masculine form, I certainly won't argue about it!
