It is just far too easy for someone to obtain a gun in this country. It is also far too easy for people that need help, mentally, spiritually, to fall through the cracks and be lost in our society. America is a great country, but we dont take care of each other like some countries do.

A comment that guns kill people is the same as saying pencils misspell words. The operater is the killer. If he has not a gun he will make a bomb, use a knife, etc. If everyone had protection these mass killings would not occur or at a minimum would be less deadly for after the first shooting somone with their gun would return the favor. At Vt there would have been maybe two killings cho killing the first person and someone killing him out of self defense. The easiest way for agovernment to become a dictatorship is to remove firearms from its people. A defenseless population is easly overcome.

Guns = money, and because organisations like the NRA are funded mainly by arms manufacturers and sellers, they spend tens of millions on campaigns to keep inconvenient statistics out of the public's field of view.
The best-funded lobby groups are always the most powerful and best able to beat down opposing views.
In other words, information on this subject is supressed and Americans therefore believe the messages they hear the most, not the ones they have to actually search for. The messages are often false or misleading, such as those the pro-gun lobby puts out. One misinterpretation of the facts I can point out is that the pro-gun lobby tells us what there are only a small number of accidental shootings in America every year. What they don't tell is that they base their statistics solely on statistics published by states, but that most states don't publish statistics on accidental shootings, so the gun advocates simply omit these from the numbers they cite. If you research this, you will see that the real numbers are 1,000 times more than the numbers the NRA, etc., report.

People all around the world killed long before guns were invented. No guns in USA means no senseless violence? Wrong. Terrorists in Iraq and Tim McVeigh in Oklahoma for example kill with bombs. Do the families of those victims feel relieved that their loved ones were not killed by guns? Drunk drivers kill, any of you want to go alcohol prohibition again? Same faulty logic is utilized with gun control debate.
It is already against the law to kill so anyone not willing to obey that most basic law will not honor any gun law! You are handcuffing only those law abiding citizens to be in accordance with the stricter gun laws. I am a legally licensed concealed pistol holder (CPL). I am willing and capable of ending the incident long before 32 defenseless people were executed, however, in my state there are pistol free zones which even I can not carry the "tool of last resort". These zones include federal government buildings (post offices, NASA), universities such as Virginia Tech, primary schools such as Columbine. Ever notice these massacres take place on large numbers of defenseless people in these pistol free zones?
CPL holders in my state have been arrested only once ever last time I checked the State database, which was less than the law enforcement profession (12 arrests). When criminals commit massacres it is the criminal that we must deal with not the tool he used. Would a person in a classroom at Vtech would be more comforted by knowing there were stricter gun laws which may or may not be obeyed or by knowing that me and my NRA friends were at your side?
Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell have armed security guards employed at times despite their loud voices on gun control, how convenient for them. Most law enforcement officers do not discharge their firearms in the line of duty during their entire careers, many less CPL holders are ever in a situation, statistically these massacres despite the media coverage do not happen often to many of us but if they did why would you want to be at the maniac's mercy?

making use of stats from the BATF, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (you're saying explosives) is far stupid as this enterprise of the US government has been under scrutiny for some years and has been slated to be eradicated by many in Congress for some years because of the fact of it is (BATF) abuses and intense handed activities in direction of lawful electorate. i could fairly have faith stats from the different enterprise than the only (BATF) you so expertly have chosen. undergo in suggestions the branch Dravidian's, it develop into the BATF that went to the Waco, Tx. ranch and chosen a frontal attack fairly than to catch David Koresh on the line or on the city. The BATF is an excessively aggressive or maybe risky regulation enforcement company that has long outlasted it is (BATF) useful place in right now's US society. Is that a knock at my door I hear, oh heck the BATF would not knock, they only crash precise in!

I, as an american, like the thought that if someone is shooting at me, and i have my gun, i can shoot back. It's a security thing that I love having.
But it's not the guns that are killing people!!! It's the mindless idiots behind the guns that are killing people. You have to keep in mind that guns are harmless unless there is someone there to pull the trigger.

Guns are much too easy to obtain in America. The information is not made public as why autism and schizophrenia are prevalent.
The chemical used in dry cleaning is a potent neurotoxin.
All these are factors.

It has become increasingly clear that something needs to be done to provide treatment for the mentally ill. It is almost impossible to obtain treatment for an adult against his will, and when he is grossly psychotic, he is irrational. Also, mental health data of persons with severe mental illness need to be available to gun sellers, so they won't sell to these people.
