So diplomats are savages ? I suggest you take a look at world history and see how many times diplomacy was backed up with a firearms. And as pointed out in so many other answers firearms are not the problem. Its the person behind the trigger thats the problem. Remember if they can't get a gun a knife, bat, car or home made bomb works just as well.

NOPE!!!! Cowards use begging and pleading.....God created all men...Samual Colt made them all equal.
I will never give up my guns...never

"Guns are dangerous. But myths are dangerous, too. Myths about guns are very dangerous, because they lead to bad laws. And bad laws kill people," writes John Stossel.

According to a recent report for Congress on foreign country gun laws states, "From available statistics, among the [27] countries surveyed, it is difficult to find a correlation between the existence of strict firearms regulations and a lower incidence of gun-related crimes. [I]n Canada a dramatic increase in the percentage of handguns used in all homicides was reported during a period in which handguns were most strictly regulated. And in strictly regulated Germany, gun-related crime is much higher than in countries such as Switzerland and Israel, that have simpler and/or less restrictive legislation." (Library of Congress, "Firearms Regulations in Various Foreign Countries, May 1998")

No they should not.

Wise men may use diplomacy and education, but the government isn't full of wise men. The rights of the citizens to defend themselves and if necessary take up arms against an oppresive government should never be surrendered.

No SAYYED R, I don't agree with your third world assumption about guns. Thanks for being called a "SAVAGE."

Will be a very cold day in hell when someone that don't know how to spell AMERICA, will be able to take my guns away. And by the way...licensed to carry it concealed. So I would use the "wise man" theory and not approach with that bit of tripe on your mind!

Rule of thumb in history......... there are those in the world who only understand force. Yes it would be great if everybody could just settle and do the best for their people...... but today is not that day.

Wise men use the threat of force to get to the diplomatic table. It is unfortunate on so many levels.

Speaking of wisdom and education....it's AmeriCa.

Intelligent people use intelligent means to handle differences of opinion. Criminals use weapons. Intelligent people recognize that criminals are not going to knock on their door and ask to discuss the merits of giving up your worldly possessions in a spirited intellectual exchange over a dry chardonnay. They are going to stick a gun in your face as they conduct a home invasion.

Therefore intelligent people may CHOOSE to protect themselves accordingly....with their wit, their superior intelligence, and if necessary the empty chardonnay bottle and of course their Magnum.

Wise men use whatever method is wisest, guns included.
Only a fool goes unarmed into a place (the world) where others still seek your life.
Even Jesus' followers carried swords.

tell that to Mohamed. Sorry, I do not agree. There is not one single argument that could be made to convince me that guns should be banned in the US.
