your mom or dad by there name? instead of mom /dad, reason im asking, this girl, shes 16 i work with calls her mom by her name, all the time. this seems strange to me, what are your thoughts???

If I had called my parents Jim, and Elenore, I would of been beaten down hard, and fast.
They likely would of taken turns.

I never called my real dad by his name because well, I never met him. But I've always called my past five stepdads by their names. Miguel, Luis, Ricardo, Jose, and the latest guy, Nicholas. And I started calling my mom by her name ever since I could talk. I don't know why other people do it, but I do it because I don't think they deserved to be called mom or dad for alot of reasons.

I call them mom and dad. That would be weird to call them by their names.

If the parents don't mind it, it's okay, but I wouldn't want my son calling me by my first name. If he does, it's only because there is many people at the park shouting "Mom" and I tune out, until I hear "Dee" I look up and say, who here knows me? and it's my son laughing!

I find that extremely rude and disrespectiful to call parents by their first names... I even call my best friends parents Mom and Dad.

No, Ive never called my parents by their first name. Maybe its the girls stepmom....or shes just weird, OR maybe her parents want to be called by their names. Some ppl are like that.*

I will always call my parents "mom and dad" even when I'm 50. I think its disrespectful not to.

I've never called my parents mom and dad...I've always used their names. Same with everyone else in my family...it's just what we've always done.
