I think to every couple it has a different meaning. Mine symbolized that we were ready to spend our lives together and that we wanted to be exclusive. We just werent ready to get married. Depending on the age of the couple depends on the significance but most people who are older dont give promise rings, they skip to an engagement ring.

the traditional promise ring is just a promise to marry or wait for you until you guys are both ready to take the relationship to the next level, so the promise ring by definition was originally developed ,by people who have their son or daughter marry who the families want to marry,in other word's a arranged marriage it was a frequent ,tool in royal families , however most people consider that taboo these days but as they say old traditions die hard , but the ring also served a purpose of warning off other suite rs men and women a like, the still have arranged marriages mostly in foreign countries , hope i helped

Its like going steady while dating someone only with a ring.Think some people find it romantic like a pre-engagment or something.

It is given to a girl so that she doesn't see anyone else. That more or less keeps the guy from worrying about his girlfriend "cheating" on him. Really there is nothing more to it than that. Good Luck!
