Yes, simple is better. My life was simple at 18, it was the 80's after all. Now, at 38, its at least 12 times more complex than it was. And because of that, I am looking to change myself back to that 18 yr old, going back to simple.
Why chase up the ladder? There is nothing at the top. I know, been there a few times. So I am tossing out my ladder.

I think the the belief that freedom is assured and happiness is achieved by having a constant proliferation of choices, has less to do with freedom and happiness, and more to do with the cultural assumptions needed to maintain and promote the ethos of capitalism. Associating happiness with choices is yet another illusion of modernity. Happiness is not about having all sorts of choices, but about knowing one's purpose and orientating one's choices and decisions towards what is good and true.

It doesn't really matter either way because free will is an illusion...

More choices would be better. Not everyopne is the same and it makes it nicer if everything is more individualized.

Life WOULD be happier, not with more or fewer choices but with better discernment.
