Both would be very interesting series for Western Conference Finals. With the Mavs and the Suns, you have a battle of former teammates and possible MVP candidates. Both are young, athletic teams and the series is guaranteed to be exciting.

With the Spurs and the Mavs, you have a match-up of one the biggest rivalries in the NBA. The state of Texas is literally split half over this rivalry(sorry Rocket fans, but its the truth). You are pretty much guaranteed an intense, 7-game series between the established Western powerhouse, and the up and coming new powerhouse that has yet to prove themselves. I know the Mavs took the Spurs out last season(no discredit to the Mavs, but the Spurs were not healthy), but they suffered a humiliating defeat in 4-straight games in the Finals last year. The Spurs have sealed the deal everytime they've gone to the Finals, including a brutal 7-game series with Detroit in '05 that could have easily gone either way.

I would personally rather watch the Mavs and the Spurs in Conference Finals. I don't feel the Suns and Mavs would provide an intense enough match-up. I think the Mavs really want the Spurs in the Finals too. They truly have something to prove. This is a healthy Spurs squad that is on a serious quest for the ring this season. If the Mavs can beat this season's Spurs, then capture the ring, they will truly arrive as the new powerhouse of the NBA.

Suns vs Mavericks would be a better match-up as they are have the two best record. They will be a showcase of Nash vs Nowitzki and it would be at a faster pace than if the Spurs vs Suns.

I don't think the Suns can beat the Pistons, so I'd rather they made it out of the west. I think either the Spurs or the Mavs will be a tougher matchup for the Pistons (or maybe the Heat). I think that the Pistons can beat the Suns, and the Suns might be able to beat the Mavs, but the Mavs might be able to beat the Pistons.

I am a suns fan, so i am biased, but still from an entertainment viewpoint suns/mavs would be best. With the suns style of play, and the way the last to games of their season series went, it would be a great series to watch. Also, to the person who said the pistons could beat the suns, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there

Spurs but I'm biased. People do not like the Spurs style though and so we get dumped on by everyone and since the San Antonio market is so small the number of people watching goes way down.
