Or even be close too. I love reading history and I try to read the different resources and when it comes to events that are totally conflicting I can’t be sure of the truth or what really happened. What is the best thing to do in this case?

well first of all think about who wrote the History, because they will be kind to themselves.
secondly think about what sounds more logical.

if you had gave us an example, it would have been easier to tell you which is more likely to be true.

the problem with History is, the further you go back the more lies you will hear. Churchill said "history will be kind to me now that i am writing it". he gives us a perfect example of who writes history and just HOW they write it.

Is there a truth? Everyone sees things from a different perspective (even if everyone witnesses the same thing) - everything wrote down is someones interpretation.

We may all like to know the truth about things, but most of the time we believe what we want to - or sometimes are persuaded to believe in what other people want us to see.

How do you know any of the history books you read are accurate?

Read as much as you can, be open to see things the way others do, but in the end you will make a decision based upon your own experiences, what you read and believe in.

I've found the more I study history, the more I realize two truths: the winners wrote it (up until the 20th century), and it is subjective. Every story every day will have conflicting accounts. I try to think of the context of what and when something is written, and by whom. Be critical and read a lot, look at pictures, and even try to imagine you in that place and how you may have felt about it. Good luck.

If you read enough history, you will be able to spot the inconsistencies in the incorrect accounts. You will be able to say things like:

Yes, but if that happened, why didn't happen too, for the same reasons?

Yes, but if he did that, why would he not have done because it would be in character?

Yes, but if that happened, why did nobody else even mention it till now, or any of the other things which would have been bound to happen too?

Use your imagination.

The Truth is somehow hidden from us.

That's why we spend years searching for it and yet it hasn't been found.

Well ...except for some. :D
