I want to make a video and dedicate it to the world who are in pain and agony due to violence, natural disasters, proverty etc... We know there's a lot of negatives in the world and people are dead, especially innocent people. People died in the Va Tech shootings, Colombine, Katrina, Iraq, the list can go on. What's the best song to use for people who are in agony and pain due to so many terrible things going on in the world?

Imagine by John Lennon is a very sad but excellent song. It will really set the mood for your video.

Here is a link to it if you don't know it:

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I think 'Somewhere I belong" in Meteora by Linkin Park is a great song to dedicate to people who are in pain... CHester Bennington has given it a real good shot and MIke Shinoda(Rap) make it feel good... The song goes as follows:

"(When this began),
I had nothing to say
And I' get lost in the nothingness inside of me
(I was confused)
Then I let it all out of mind
That I'm not the only person with these things in mind
(Inside of me)
When all the vacancy the words revealed
Is the only real thing that i 've got left to feel
(Nothing to lose)
Nothing to gain
Hollow and alone and the fault is my own
and the fault is my own

I wanna Heal,
I wanna feel,
What i thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain i felt so long...
(Erase all the pain till its gone)

Somewhere i belong..."

Well if you are trying to say why are people doing these awful things then perhaps Wheres the Love by the Black Eyed Peas will be the best choice. The Rising End by Zao would be a good song to play if your talking about the killers, because its a violent sounding song.

No one can say that one song is best for everyone listening
to your tribute. If you did a medley of 3 to 6 songs (depending on the length of your video) with portions of or whole songs,it could be more powerful to more people. Secular and religious mixture would have a broader impact. Listen to "cry out to Jesus" by third day. thats my vote for atleast one in the medley. hope to see video soon. GB!

I find the song by Mercy Me, Hold Fast is a good song. It is a Christian song but it is dedicated to all those that are hurting or are in pain. It delivers a really good message on how to hang in there.

You should check out "Gravity" by John Mayer. Great sound, great lyrics.

Gravity

Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down

Oh I'll never know what makes this man
With all the love that his heart can stand
Dream of ways to throw it all away

Oh Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down

Oh twice as much aint twice as good
And can't sustain like a one half could
It's wanting more
That's gonna send me to my knees

Oh twice as much aint twice as good
And can't sustain like a one half could
It's wanting more
That's gonna send me to my knees

Oh gravity, stay the hell away from me
And gravity has taken better men than me (Now how can that be?)

Just keep me where the light is
Just keep me where the light is
Keep you all where the light is
Just keep us where the light is

Ohh.. where the light is!

Just keep me where the light is
Just keep me where the light is
Keep you all where the light is
Just keep us where the light is

Ohh.. where the light is!
