Russel Arnold is not a recognised batsman, but an all rounder. Hence he is sent to bat down the order. Presently Dilshan is the better all rounder in Sri Lankan Team and as such he is sent ahead of Russel Arnold.,

I think Russel Arnold is an under estimated player and never been given a real chance to prove his abilities. Still he is doing a good job in down order.

Russel is a good batsman and can bat in any position, including as an opener, however it is very difficult to play his game when there is a fear of being ommited. Under the given circumstances he has done a good job.

He is not a hard hitter of the ball.He is there to protect the wickets from a collapse .I think he should be batting at Number 6 or 7 if he is there in the team.I personally think Chamara Kapugedera is the ideal player to bat in that position.
