The check engine light has been on on my car for a little while now, but I know that it's because of the O2 sensor behind the Catalytic Converter, but it seemed to be doing fine. Yesterday it was raining and I was my car in traffic. I stopped at light when my TRAC OFF light came on and my exhaust sounded louder (like it shifted into a lower gear). When I started to drive again it suddenly jumped a little bit and drove for about 20 feet and then died. I let it sit for a few minutes and tried to start it up again, but it won't turn over. A couple of time the car actually started, but then died after 2 seconds. I recently had the transmission replaced with a used one which had low miles on it. Do you think that the transmission might have caused this problem or could it be something else. I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thank You.

Your catalytic converter could have been damaged by an engine performance problem. Have the converter checked and make sure the engine is running properly if the converter is replaced to prevent damage to the new converter. The engine should start in park regardless of the condition of the transmission.

if it wont turn over, then the torque converter might have locked up with you.i doubt it,but you could check the starter,by pounding on it and see if it will turn over.
