seems to me the teacher also encouraged picking on him by threatening him in front of the class with an F for not participating. why would an adult teacher do that to a shy little kid? this incident happened in grade school.

And no i am not defending Chos actions in killing people.

I just want to know where they get these teachers. If a teacher did this to my kid I would have him FIRED.

Once, in English class, the teacher had the students read aloud, and when it was Cho's turn, he just looked down in silence, Davids recalled. Finally, after the teacher threatened him with an F for participation, Cho started to read in a strange, deep voice that sounded "like he had something in his mouth," Davids said.

"As soon as he started reading, the whole class started laughing and pointing and saying, `Go back to China,'" Davids said.

WEECHI..i pray to god that you will NEVER be a teacher to my friends, family and loved ones. your attitude is unacceptable. a teacher is to SUPPORT their students. NOT threaten and embarass them in front of the whole class.
if u see nothing wrong with this then u are a lost cause.
if someone did this to my kid, i would MAKE SURE someone cared.
as for the kid stealing candy, then i question the respect u and ur superiors have for each other. if ur superiors cannot trust you enough to go by your word, there must be something wrong with you, them or both.

GOOD FOR YOU!

You are asking a GREAT question, and one that all teachers...all decent people need to take heed of.

Where are we? Who is sticking up for those that can't stick up for themselves.

Although what Cho did was inexcusable, we also have to take a look at how we all contributed to his actions.
As a teacher my #1 job, above and beyond any curriculum, is to prepare those children for life - and that also means keeping them feeling safe about themselves and the world around them.

There is NEVER a place for humiliating a child in a classroom.

I'm with you, and I have actually complained to my child's principal when I witnessed a staff member acting in a degrading way to a child that wasn't mine!

I manged to teach a very tough group of 8th graders while maintaining their dignity and mine. There is no excuse.

The article is not really clear about what the teacher did or did not do. It does not say the teacher did not do anything, it just reports what the other students did. How do you know the teacher did nothing? I would not threaten to give a student an F in front of the whole class, but a teacher would have to do more than that to get fired I think. Why is it that you want to hold the teacher responsible, but you don't say anything about holding the students who teased Cho repsonsible or holding Cho himself responsible for his actions?

ok, #1...you will NOT have the teacher fired. sorry buddy, you are just a parent. nobody cares if the teacher tells your kid they are getting an F. there are bigger problems and if you think that is going to get a teacher fired you are living in fantasy land. i feel sorry for your kid because they'll probably still need you to put diapers on them when they're 30 if you baby them that much.

#2, teachers are people. they are not all knowing, flawless Gods. believe it or not, kids say things the teacher doesn't hear!!!! just like kids smoke, do drugs, and have sex without their parents knowing! that's what kids do...hide things from adults.

i'm pretty sure if a teacher actually heard this...they would jump all over these kids.

a second thing to point out about this subject...yesterday i had a child steal a bunch of candy out of my desk. i wrote him up and sent him to the office...where he was sent BACK to my class without punishment. the reason??? because TWO people didn't see him steal! it was my word against his and apparently the 10 year old won.

so THAT may be a reason why the teacher "didn't do anything." because she COULDN'T.

Your point is moot! There are many children who were picked on by other students and threatened with Fs by a teacher. But NONE of them ever shot 32 innocent people for no reason.

First, he should have read the first time when the teacher told him to read in class.

Second, he should have asked for help if he had trouble with the English language.

Third, he should have educated the kids who joked on him about his culture so they could be more understaning

I agree that if this extremely did happen (given which you may't continuously have faith what you examine from the linked Press), it incredibly is definitely very incorrect. because of the fact the person she could have chanced on different the thank you to convey him out and if she could no longer then the instructor could have then approached the critical/college board approximately it. even with the undeniable fact that, i'm ill and bored to death in individuals using their i replaced into picked on, i've got not got that many friends, my parents beat me, and so on. as an excuse for their habit. advance up and seek for some help. there are a number of others obtainable that have it lots worse than you who take this and build a sturdy, helpful existence for themselves and don't take it out on others. This youthful guy replaced right into a egocentric little sh** who committed an exceedingly incorrect and pointless act, end of communicate.

First off, this kid was in college, so he's hardly a little kid. If you were to go to college to have a professor fired, I would feel super sorry for your adult kid who's mommy and daddy were upset and came to complain about a teacher. Seriously, do you intend to complain when your kid doesn't get a good grade???
No wonder kids today are so mixed up...mommy and daddy won't let them grow up, make their own decisions and be adults. It's one thing when they are in Elementary school or high school, but college? Give me break!!!

He wasn't a little kid, he was a college student. And if he wouldn't even participate in the class, he deserved to be failed.
