I find difficult to abide by decisions i made to myself. And then later i start regretting about it. Does anyone has a genuine recipe for becoming more determined and perseverant?

Take it one day at a time. Each morning spend a few quiet moments thinking of how you want to conduct yourself during the day. Tell yourself that you will refrain from temptation for this one day only. Everyone has willpower to get through one day. The next day you do the same thing. Only look at 24 hrs at a time, that is the trick.

As a Christian, my response to temptation is: "No temptation has seized you, except that which is common to man. But when you are tempted, HE will provide away out, so you can stand up under it." From the book of 1 Corinthians. The Bible is a life-changing book. There are a lot of changes we can make in our lives, on our own, but true, genuine change comes from making amends with our Creator God.

Find something else to think about. The more you thing about something that you would rather avoid, the more difficult it is to resist.

Choose your friends and your environment. A person who decides not to drink can avoid bars and have other social engagements, as an example.

Choose people in your life who will help you to be who you want and avoid people who will drag you down.

That depends on what it is!

Well...just reason it out and get on with something else as quickly as possible. Remember why you made the descissions you did! Get a really ugly look at it the whole thing...really ugly and then think about the positive things you have done in not caving in to it. ..feel the pride...self-esteme I should say! Then move on to something else quickly! LOL!

Good luck. xoxox! hahehahaha!

Runnnnnnnn! Hahaha!

Keep a list of all the decisions you made that you really must keep. Read that list first thing each morning. Be smart enough to realize when you are being tested and then counterattack and resist.

I always remind myself that if I don't trangress, I won't have to pay for it later. This pretty much keeps me away from the bulk of my temptations, but I continue to botch up every now and then.

i find making a plan, a daily or weekly goal, works for me,,,, plan out steps concerning the area you want to change,,,,,,, break it down,,,,,, dont think of the total goal,,,,, this usually works, no matter what the subject,,,, so dont make a decision not to do something, or to do it,,, but focus on little steps,,,,,,, make a decision to work on it.
if i want to clean my house,,,, i plan 30 minute gaps of time to work on it,,,, or a certain room to do,,,,,, if i dont complete it all, its ok, i made progress

if i want to cut down on drinking, i make restrictions as to how much i drink, and i try to stick with it,, to contemplate my reasons for it,, to find other things to do/have

if its a one time thing, a decision you can complete in one step,,,,, then plan out a time to do it,,,, get ready to do it, etc. dont do other things until its completed.

most decisions have many factors surrounding them,,, things that cause the subject or prevent the subject from happening,,,, you really have to deal with all that also,,,,,

I try to set myself up for success. If I am tempted by cheesecake, I don't keep any in my house. If I am tempted by a certain guy, then I make sure that I am not alone with him...I bring one of my kids with me when I see him, or go on a double date, or go with a group of friends.
Don't sell yourself short...you can talk yourself out of anything that you can talk yourself into!!!

i tell myself that there is no such thing as regret, because at some point or another i wanted what it, and i can't regret what i once desired, so every choice i make is determined by what i want at the moment
