If it weren't for the invasion of Kuwait,

would you know about Saddam or what he "did to his own people"?

And why did you have to be reminded all these years later for your justification of the new Iraq war?

What was America's interest in Kuwait?

Better question is why did Iraq invade Kuwait ? As far as the money , we gave Iraq money in the 80's for their fight with Iran. All that gave Saddam was increased boldness to destroy others and innocent Iraqi's. We have assisted financially to many countries around the world. We never get much in return for the help. but they always come back asking for more.

I do not know where he got it, but we never mention when we tell this story that the Kurds were involved in armed rebellion against their country. If a group of people did this in the U.S. They would be killed too. We always tell this story as if Saddam just did not like the Kurds and this was like the Holocaust. FF

The US was funding his Ba'ath party from the start. When the Iran war stretched on too long, his pockets were filled with dollars, courtesy of the United States. The US supported the Taliban, too, and those were probably some of the worst human rights abuses in modern history. And we're ignoring the massacre in the Sudan, that's about one million people dead so far.

We have historically helped and then withdrawn our help based not on worth but on what is best for us at the moment. Why can't we remember this, why do we always get suckered when our government says that we are helping a fledgling new little democracy when we're actually only trying to help our selves, this little fledgling democracy may be tomorrows mass murderer.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We give money to all sorts od horrible people and groups out of humanitairism. We the U.S. gives in free aid to other countries in a year surpasses many countries budgets. We give money to Palestine which gives it to terrorist groups, we gave money to Iraq, and before that Iran. Most of the aide we give to African Nations to fight Aids and other issues ends up being wasted for other purposes by their corupt governments. We support most of the Middle East dictorships and Kingships with oil money. I hope that we look at this and redefine who we trade with and who we give aid too and where that money is really going.

No way we were engaging in Sanctions.

We do not need to be reminded except at the trials that Hang the Guilty. Trials that are given by Free Iraqi people getting rid of scum.
