Nature's way to ensure that the male do not desert the pregnant female just after coitus. Human babies take long period to mature in the womb, and longer period to get care of themselves. In this period, mother alone cannot take care of the kid, she needs the protection and assistance from the male.
it is Mother Nature's way to ensure that Human race survive in this world. So She made love, with shelf life of 5 - 6 years, enough to get the resultant baby brought up.
