I think a job is somthing you do just for a paycheck. A career is something that you have always had a passion for.

Well, I have had both a career and a job. Right now I have a job. I enjoyed my career, but I also enjoy my job. I enjoy the daily interactions I have with my coworkers at my job. There are some wonderful people there. No better or worse than the ones I worked with when I had a career.

The major difference from my career to my job is that I had more autonomy and more responsibility. And ultimately, far more stress. While in some ways it was very satisfying to be able to use my creativity on projects, there is also a satisfaction in just having a job that doesn't take up hours of my personal life (for NO extra pay) and a job well done and taking my pay and going home and putting that extra energy into my personal life instead of my career. It's all in your perspective. One is not necessarily better than the other. You make it fit into your life.

Oh, and by the way, I make MUCH more money in my job, than I ever did in my career. So, years of education does not guarantee that you'll make more than someone doing manual labour.

So if you're just going to school in order to make more money, think again.

Follow your bliss!

A career usually involves some type of professional education, training and experience.

A job is something that you have and do for the moment.

A career is something that you pursue over your life time.

A job or a career is only a problem if you choose the wrong one for you. Social people who work in isolation won't be happy. Loners who are forced to work with many people won't be happy.

Consider the job/career requirement and increase your happiness by knowing what you enjoy.

The difference you are seeking is not between a job or a career, but between a job and career and a mission and a purpose. Jobs, careers are merely things that we do, practical diversions. Mission and purpose reveal who we really and truly are.

A career because a job is temporary, but your career represents your skills even if you are inbetween jobs or transfering from one job to another.
