Male bettas tend to do ok with other fish, as long as it is not another male betta. However, a 5 gallon tank is kinda small for that many fish. You should have at least a 10 gallon tank for these fish, a 15 would be even better. If you can only have a 5 gallon tank, you should really only keep two of the fish and the snail.

It's going to depend on the temperament of the betta. He might be okay in the tank you describe above. It would be best to place his bowl next to the tank for a few days so he gets use to seeing them. My concern is the guppy. If it's a fancy male it's fin may be too betta like. Also 5 gallons is a little small for a betta to establish a territory.

Honestly your tank is a little small. With slim bodied fish you'll want 1 gallon per inch. You 5 gallon is already over stocked. You might waat to consider a 10 or 30 gallon tank. The betta, snail, and maybe a few ghost shrimp would be great in the 5 gallon. Of course he'd love to be in a lrger tank as well. Just remember in a larger tank bettas are more likely picked on than the reverse.

All the fish you named should work fine with a Betta.
A single male Betta rarely bothers other fishes in the community aquarium. Betta's can be successfully kept with most **peaceful species** of fish. Good tank mates that I have found acceptable are Common Guppies,Platy,Sword tail,Black Mollys,White Clouds,Cory and Glass Catfish.
Remember, however there is invariably a "bad apple" in every group, and your results may vary depending on your individual fish's temperament. An observant eye and a little experimentation will give you the results you are looking for.

betta's are calm fish that like a calm environment, amd so uninteresting sluggish fish is strictly what works for them. Fish that dart around for ever and ever like barbs basically will strengthen stress as a results of fact the fish invade the bettas area time and time back, and with hard fish like barbs there is not something he can do approximately it. the rationalization you notice youtube movies like this is as a results of the fact there are so a lot greater people who do not care approximately keeping fish precise then do. Youtube is a bad place to %. up techniques, it somewhat is entertainment and typical human beings showing off their stuff, frequently not understanding in basic terms how awful their stuff is. And besides, you may save 3 tetras, yet there'll be a distinction in the two how they behave and particular their long term wellbeing. With some species nipping can grow to be an argument, yet basically some. Why do not you go away the betta out of the equation altogether and then set up the lively tank you somewhat need - needless to say calm and sluggish fish at the instant are not your element, so why flow with a fish that limits your tank to what you do not likely choose?

Depends what personality your betta is, mine is very active and aggressive so i have to keep him alone, if your is calm, or easygoing you have better luck with him, if your betta is like this i would get a sucker fish or even a snail cause snails have shells, also it would be best if you want another fish with your betta you may want to moe him into a bigger tank if you have 5 gallons or less, it may be to cramp in there. good luck! :)

Yes, that should be fine. I had bettas in my 55 gal with platies, mollies, gouramis, bala sharks, snails and various catfish. The betta was so happy to have SO MUCH room too!!

The only problem I ever had was with my last betta. We got two new gourami's (Opaline) and we think they picked him to death, but what you said you have should be fine. I personally just think it was the more hot tempered nature of any blue gourami - the little bastards!!

Keep an eye on them for a day or two. See how the other fish respond to him, but I think they should all get along just fine!!

:P

Yes, and all of your fish would benefit from the addition of a few inexpensive "bunch" plants.
