I am in Canada (Ont) my son was brought home cause he stole a choc. bar. Now I just got a letter from some lawyer and they was almost 500.00 for him doing this. I dont know want to do. I dont have that kind of money right now and they want it in less that 30 days. If anyone has any information/help I would be very great full. Please email me at sdodge72@yahoo.ca

this is very common they do it for 2 reasons one to help with the cost of all the people they don't catch and 2nd so your son wont do it again make him work it off if he is young enough you can plead leniency but you will still pay something sorry
let all your friends know to teach there children not to steel

i know in this world that seams foreign to many because of the whole bible thing

There has to be more to the story than that. You kid was caught stealing a chocolate bar - worth wat $1.50. and some lawyer wants $500?

There is obviously something your son is not telling you. No lawyer in their right mind would sue someone over a chocolate bar worth $1.50.

Sounds like some kind of scam on the part of this "lawyer" to me. There must be place you can go to seek legal advice on this...
