And after seeing what we saw can we still reclaim our innocence. (song lyric from Skylines and Turnstiles by My Chemical Romance)
it is a song about September 11, 2001. i think it is profound because i was 13 when that happened and it was a day that will never be forgotten and that line got me thinking all those little kids like me and younger who had never seen something so horrible it really takes your innocence. i didnt think humans could be so cruel until i that day and i remember asking my self why would someone kill so many people like that. and i remember watching the news and seeing people jumping off the twin towers because it was either that or burn to death and all the other vivid horrorific things on the news. and that line just is so profound to me. my chemical romance did an excellent job on that song and the rest of the lyrics. it dont think it is the most profound thing i ever heard cus the bible has the most profound quotes. but i felt like answering something different then everyone else.

Although not profound in itself I heard something many years ago that I have used ever since in all aspects of my life. It held true then and it still holds true now. It allows 'thinking outside of the box' (a term that I hate).
The phrase that I heard was;
"An assumption is simply a mistake that you do not realise that you have made yet".

Too many quotes, but I can tell you that each time I hear about someone giving of themselves for others, without publicizing their deeds, that is most profound. Beautiful gestures of kindness and not looking to hurt anyone or gain favor for themselves.

Great question--very hard to narrow it to one, but forced to the issue, the most profound thing I have ever heard is:
"I love you."

'"Come now, and let us reason together", saith the LORD; "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
"If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured by the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it."' (Is. 1:18-20).
'"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
"because strait is the gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."' (Jesus, Matthew 7:13,14)
'O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God [who did so] through Jesus Christ our Lord. ... There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the [Holy] Spirit.' (Paul, Rom. 7:24-25a, 8:1).(All quotes KJV Bible).

Because i feel like it.
Chicken pot chicken pot chicken pot pie.
Chicken butt.
To understand means not to need to forgive.
a coward thinks all other men to be cowards and a theif thinks them to be theives.
And my absolute favorite
"The game of life is hard to play
I'm going to lose it anyway
the losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say
The only way to win is cheat
and lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat"

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man, my son!

We shall not cease from exploration
And at the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time...

When we are willing to be honest with ourselves and others about who we are and what really matters to us, only then are the lives we live and the love we receive truly our own.
Home is not some familiar place you can always return to. It is the rightness you feel, wherever you are, when you know that you are loved.

'why is there nothing rather than something' - I like this...
But, it's probably not as profound as the explosion of profanity one shouts to the Heavens in vain as he or she bangs a toe against a table leg or accidentally knocks their head against something hard and pointy.
Derrida says there is only one prayer: shaking your fist at God.
Basically,
"Bring me mead, feed me cheerleaders."
