Welcome to America...The country built by thousands and thousands of people who felt a need to get the hell out of Europe (and resented for this unfortunate truth).
Seems like several Brits are answering with an awful lot of negativity. It's refreshing to know that the US is not the only place filled with people who hate their own country. Though it was 10 years ago I traveled around the UK. It didn't look like a hell hole to run away from. Though ignorant to your current social and political landscape I find it hard to believe The UK has become such a miserable place. You have always struck me as being stronger than that. In times of war the Brits are the first group I would want on my side.

First. Has this changed from any other other time.
Second. How many are on two-year employment contracts.
Third. How many of those 500 left two years ago as well.
Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics.
You can make a statistic say whatever you want. Like everything else, it has to be seen in context.

I think that we live in incredible times...that people have choices to live wherever they choose, and modern times have the modes of transportation that allow such movement. That a person is permitted to move freely around this planet. That they can find a place that feels 'right' for them...and leave a place that no longer feels 'right'.
You can draw all kinds of political conclusions...but in the end, I am grateful for myself and others that I live in a country that allows the freedom of movement.
