I`ve just taken a contraceptive pill approx 4 days ago...first time i take one...and today i notice that i`m bleeding ( a bit purplish red) not heavily and also i`m having abdominal pains..

And yes i`ve just had my period...and i know it`s not my period....the abdominal pains are a bit more severe than when i have my period and i think i took the pill in the ovulation period....

Is this normal after taking a pill?If so, Why?

Thank you so much

You need to see a doctor.

The pill is not hard. That little pack you have... you do not start it until the sunday AFTER your period comes. Throw that pack away and start over after your period. Then, you take 1 pill, EVERY day, don't skip it... go through the whole pack in order, throw it away when it's empty, and start again with a new pack. There should never be a day you don't take the pill. Your menstrual cycle will be odd until your body adjusts.

And under no circumstances have unprotected sex until you've finished a whole pack (28 days), and no unprotected sex if you miss a pill for 1 week after that missed pill.

READ your pamphlet that came with your pills!

if you only took one pill and no more then yes you will bleed.do not bother your doctor over some little thing like this, you are not dying, you should not have started the pill when you were ovulating, you start it at the end of your period and it prevents ovulation taking place

This is when it is a good time to call the doctor who prescripbed the contraceptive pills, not ask idiots without medical degrees on an anonymous website.
