Depends on the trip! If I 'm away for a week or more I begin packing the previous morning. If it's shorter, the night before.
However, I begin preparing things a week or two ahead!! You know, buy a guide book, check the weather on the Net, buy any clothes if I feel I'm gonna need some, go to the drugstore and get aspirin, etc, etc, etc.

Usually the night before ot the day of the trip. If I had duplicates of everything I need I'd pack a week or month before. lol
