What has happened to the sport if every time a player plays phenomenal baseball steroids comes up. A Rod is not Bonds who has effectively been convicted in the public eye. Lets wait for some evidence before talking about steroids.

As for the whole clutch situation, forget doing things he has never done before, he is doing things nobody has done before. It is only April, but A Rod is playing like a new man. He has two walk off homers this season, in 8 home games. One was a grand slam. Both came with 2 outs in the 9th. He has hit 9 home runs with 2 outs. No one else has 8 HR total. Sounds like numbers Ortiz would kill for.

Any at bat against the Red Sox is a clutch situation. He is 3 for 5 this season, with 2 HR and a double. He scored 3 of the Yanks 6 runs, batting in 4.

A Rod is on pace to slug 130 HR. While that number is insane, he has a legitimate shot at 74. Still, lets put it in perspective. He needs to hit 62 HR over the 147 games that remain. The only men to belt 62 long balls over an entire season are Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and of course, Bonds.

The way he is hitting now though, so long as he does not get hurt, it is more than possible. After all, if 35 HR last season was so bad, what about this one where is playing frighteningly good.

there are 163,165 games in a season a-rod hit 12 in 15 so if he does that he will hit about 132 homeruns okay people he wont hit that many because his streak wont last that long but if he slows down he possibly could get 60,70 or even 80 1 out of abillion chances he will hit more than 80 but the only person to hit 80 hit 800 to 900 homeruns josh gibson of the ***** leagues about in the 30's or 40's

At the rate he is going at, it is possible. I wouldn't be surprised. He is red hot in the first month. With the momentum he has now, he could most likely pass Barry Bonds. With 12 HRs and only 15 games have passed, he could do it.

Well, he's definitely on a TEAR with the 12 so far in just the first few games of the season.

Now, anything is possible I suppose.
But, players don't usually maintain such a hot streak throughout the entire season and eventually will cool off at some point...
but, who knows....he's looking pretty good so far...
let's see how it goes...one day, one game at a time.

I'm wondering if he's on Anabolic Steroids and it's just a matter of time before his head gets as big as Barry Bond's noggin.

He can hit 100 homeruns for all I care, just as long as he continues to choke in pressure situations. I have to chuckle each time. He hits two bombs last night and then comes up and hits line drive out when they really needed that big hit. I know he has two walk-off homers, but red sox vs yankees pressure is much more intense than say a Cleveland series. My guess is Yankee fans would rather a Paul O'neil or Knoblauch (sp sorry) who might not have stellar regular seasons, but rise to the occasion in October, compared to someone like A-rod who does great in the regular season, but chokes come the playoffs.

i doubt it, but he is on a complete tear as of right now and is seeing the ball better than i've ever seen anyone see it...he's been doing great and anyone who says he can't hit in the clutch is just denying the fact that he is the best player in the major leagues right now...it's just that he can't possibly keep up this torrid pace for an entire season

Of course it is "possible"!! Whether he will or not remains to be seen. As great a hitter as A-Rod is, I think he will not reach the 73 home runs milestone.

Chow!!

IT IS POSSIBLE THAT HE CAN HIT 74 HOME RUNS THIS YEAR. IF HE HITS 62 HE WILL SET THE NON STEROID RECORD FOR HOME RUNS IN A SEASON.
