Both are birds of prey, raptors, but eagles and buzzards are different genera just as hawks, kites and falcons are.

But just because they're eagles and not really buzzards or vultures, doesn't mean they won't sit down next to them and share the roadkill.

Benjamin Franklin had it right, national bird should have been the wild turkey.

But then again... maybe having a glorified scavenger as our national symbol is fitting....
