This is actually about my mom's boss, but it affects me as well. Basically, I babysit my sisters on the weekends so my mom can go out of town for this Karaoke business she's starting. Recently, her boss (from her day job, not the karaoke business) called the county and told them that she received a phone call from my sisters saying that they were left home alone for the weekend. This is a total lie, I've been there with with them every weekend. Long story short, my mom is now facing a possible eviction. I know what her boss did has got to be illegal, but what can be done about it? If it requires a lawyer, we don't have the money for that?

Oops, didn't mean to end the explanation with a question mark.

The "Top Contributor" is not so good at reading the whole explanation. The call my mom's boss made was a lie. The kids were never left home alone, as I babysat them.

No, the boss did not do anything illegal if they indeed did make the call. It could have been a neighbor or even the parent of one of your sister's friends if they mentioned your Mom being out of town all weekend and if you are quite young and they thought it was too much of a burden, or your they left out the fact that you were there to watch them if you are older.

It is not illegal for anyone to report possible child neglect to social services and they will not divulge who reported your mother to them.

There must be some other reason your mother is facing possible eviction other than an investigation. An social services investigation has nothing to do with an eviction; and eviction can only occur if the terms and condition of the rental contract are violated (non-payment of rent is the most common, but it could be having more people in the house then are listed on the lease, or having a dog or cat and the lease specifically states there are to be no pets in the home.)

If your mother really believes her boss reported her, finding a new day job would be a good idea.

What i might pick to understand is who made the call to her day activity boss, or grew to become into she mendacity approximately recieving the call, besides because of the fact the babies domicile on my own area? If this complete ingredient is a lie on your mom's boss' area, i think of your mom could seek for a sparkling day activity and new boss, ASAP. What to do approximately it? properly, are you able to coach which you have been there alongside with your sisters each and every weekend? in case you may (witnesses, like around the corner pals who can testify which you have been there the entire time case in point), then you definately've a case which you would be able to take to courtroom, if your mom's feasible eviction is the consequence of the can charge made to the county that your sisters have been left on my own.

Well, I think it would depend upon your age. Are you an adult - as in over 18 years of age? Leaving children alone is against the law so unless you are a responsible adult, your mother shouldn't leave for overnight or weekend trips.

If you are an adult, there is nothing to worry about from the authorities and your boss is a blowhard. If you are NOT an adult, then your boss was right to report children being left alone.

See if you can find a lawyer who will represent you, and will accept payment from the proceeds of the lawsuit. In other words, your Mom's boss would pay for your lawyer after he loses his court hearing.
