I love Carol King! I think I bought Tapestry a few years ago, and was disapointed, just buy the few songs you like from itunes.

I bought this album when it was first released in the early '70s. It is still one of my favorites!! I don't think you'd be disapointed if you added it to your collection!
The title song is my favorite:
My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue
An everlasting vision of the everchanging view
A wondrous woven magic in bits of blue and gold
A tapestry to feel and see, impossible to hold
Once amid the soft silver sadness in the sky
There came a man of fortune, a drifter passing by
He wore a torn and tattered cloth around his leathered hide
And a coat of many colors, yellow-green on either side
He moved with some uncertainty, as if he didn't know
Just what he was there for, or where he ought to go
Once he reached for something golden hanging from a tree
And his hand came down empty
Soon within my tapestry along the rutted road
He sat down on a river rock and turned into a toad
It seemed that he had fallen into someone's wicked spell
And I wept to see him suffer, though I didn't know him well
As I watched in sorrow, there suddenly appeared
A figure gray and ghostly beneath a flowing beard
In times of deepest darkness, I've seen him dressed in black
Now my tapestry's unravelling; he's come to take me back
He's come to take me back

Carole King - the supervoice of the 70's! She was loved by everyone. I was in college when I was first exposed to her music and I never let her go. "Tapestry", in my opinion, was one of her best recordings. She has a soulful , hauting voice and writes like a dream. I have always judged my own lyrics by her yardstick (and Burt Bacharach's). This would be a wonderful album to add to your collection. FYI - One of her greatest hits sung by Aretha Franklin and several others (Mary J. Blige) was "(You Make Me Feel Like A ) Natural Woman.

Tapestry is a staple for any true collector of music. As albums go, it is as close to perfect as you can get.

Yes, this is one of the greatest singer/songwriter albums of the 70's in my opinion. Her voice is very pure and emotional, and James Taylor's guitar working is excellent. I bought this ablum when I was 12, and still love it to this day.
