Once in a while, its fine, but you should tell the child that it's not something that will happen often. During a visit to my parents' house last year, we went to a buffet restaurant for breakfast. My son had just eaten french toast sticks, some hash browns, etc, and then my Dad said to him, "If you finish all of that, you can go over and make yourself an ice cream sundae! They have the machines running even at breakfast time!". My son's eyes lit up, but I put the brakes on. "Not for breakfast", I told him. I couldn't imagine the nausea my son would have after mixing ice cream with french toast and hashbrowns. Ugh...

I don't think there is anything wrong with that as long as they eat healthier the rest of the day. I give my kids cookies or cake for breakfast every now and then.
It is isn't any worse than a lot of the cereals and pop tarts and stuff that people feed their kids.

We've all been there! As long as said child is clear on the fact that this is not going to be a daily occurance. A treat every now and then never hurt anyone :o)

nah, it is ok. Saturdays are for treats, and calcium is a good way to start the day.

If they are good kids then I don't see any harm in rewarding them with ice cream. =)

Honey, i have learned to pick my battles...if they get it in their heads that they want that, is it really worth the fighting and tears to say no? Just as long as it isn't an everyday thing, what is the big deal?

I'm sure your kid thinks it's great.......something nutricious would really be better, tho! (I know I'm such a drag but I'm a healthy drag)
