I have custody of tmy 2 daughters and there mother owes me $11,000 in back support. The child support agency has been very unhelpful. Recently she filed income taxes and the aency told me they would intercept them and send it to me..She called yesterday laughing because she some how received her tax returns..Can the incompetant agency be held reliable? I know dozens of men here in Wisconsin that have been to jail for falling $500 or less behind...shes $11,000 behind and NO action taken yet...any advice?

She has a warrant so she wont come to court. I got nasty with the agency and threatened to hire an attorney and then called the head support worker in Madison and they threatened to put a "no call" order on me, because I got "out of line" when I questioned there work ethics. I was decent in my words and tone, they just felt "small" Maybe now would be the time to petition the court for 100% custody since the ex wont come to court..I just wish the agency could be held accountable for letting the taxes slip..thanks for the help..

I can't vouch for Wisconsin, but it took Florida about a year to catch up with my ex..and I supplied ALL the info they needed, including where he was working. I also hounded them.

You need to hound the agency, and I'd be inclined to go to the local news with the story. Sometimes having bad publicity will move them along. Or write your representative in the state government, and complain.

It takes a long time to get the state to do anything. That's why some people are willing to give up a 3rd to some of these third party agencies who collect it.

YES! Every agency has an agency that is in charge of them!! In NYS, Child support Collection is governed by OCFS, the office of child and family services. The trick is, go find out which agency is in charge of your child support collection, and then file a formal grievance with them.
They HATE when complaints come down from the top, and their inefficiency is put on display for everyone to see. Do your homework ahead of time, have all your dates and decisions in front of you when you call, and then offer to fax them the details, which will add credibility to your story.
Stick to the facts, and save your emotion for some other time.
The idea is that you need to show hardship, not that you hate her and want to get even with her.
You can always go to an outside agency, there are several online, and I've mentioned them below, that will help you. The problem with that is that I'm sure that they want some of what they collect. Depending on how badly you need the support, it might be worth it.
Good luck!!

Talk to a lawyer. They can garnish her wages every pay check and force her to pay. I would call the agency again and get a little nasty telling them that they have not been helpful and are not affective. Definitely talk to a lawyer!

Don't hire a lawyer - what a waste of money. instead- write to your state representative- tell them the child support services are inadequite in your area. Tell them your story (don't be a jerk about it in the letter though) my bet - they will notify the child support officer and see whats going on - they will be worried about there job - and maybe they will do there job properly.

hire a lawyer and take their mother to court. The judge can garnish her wages, forcing her employer to send a portion of her paycheck directly to you.

Why can't you be a man and support the children yourself? She probably doesn't have the cash. Get a job.
