They are no more nor less reliable than a petrol of deisel car, although the LPG fuel burns cleaner, You are simply using an alternative fuel nothing else. The component parts of your car are the same as the other two fuel users. therefore the reliability of the car is purely down to servicing and good luck in some cases. I wouldn't be put off buying one and if its already done for you then you are in for big savings on the cost of fuel as well as being "Green".

We had them on some service trucks at work. I found that they were easier to start in the mornings than using gas, but it seemed they didn't have quite the same performance as gas but it wasn't too bad. Ours had a switch so we could choice our choice of fuel. If we were low on LPG, then we flipped a switch and we were back on gas again.

Propane engines and gas should be comparable as far as performance and service goes. Although the propane engine will not suffer from carbon deposits and build up like a gas engine can. That would mean less wear and tear on the valvetrain.

Why would you . you're no longer reaping benefits our environment once you embody each and everything in contact with propane refinement and conversion emitions. once you do the mathematics it is costing you somewhat some money. The mileage in line with gallon and selection is a humorous tale. CNG is worse. the only reason state and federal governments use CNG/LPG is using the fact they're mandated to. they does no longer choose for to apply any such undesirable equipment. It’s like eating V8 fruit juice questioning it is sturdy for you. It sounds like a sturdy thought till you look on the info.

they are as reliable as a gas engine you lose about 8 to 10% of your power and fuel mileage because of propanes lower octane rating
propane when priced per gallon is more expensive it does burn cleaner so the engine will last about 1 and 1/2 times longer because of it.
if you know what system you have(impco, century, algas, etc) i could tell you more about it
