Send it for professional repair through a certified Rolex dealer. Anything else may risk damage or voiding a warranty.

I advise you to take it to an authorized Rolex dealer. Rolex is not the costliest watch brand, but it is too costly to mess with it. If scratches are on the crown, it does not cost so much to replace it. I have old watches with scratches that I would not alter at all. My oldest is a 1893 Patek Philippe that has earned its scratcches. It keeps time as well as most of my new mechanical watches.

I think if you try to remove the links yourself you may end up destroying it. Rolex watches are expensive. My husband has one too. I suggest that you bring it to an authorize Rolex store/distributor like Mayor's Jewelry store. That way you'll know that your watch will not be replaced or you'll know that you are going to get ripped off. The best way would be, is to ask your dad where he got the Rolex from because if you bring it to the store where he got it from, they will remove the links for you, free of charge. I think. Good luck!

Try rubbing neat toothpaste on it. It should remove the scratches without damaging it.
