It depends. If a question calls for an opinion, I'll give mine and then read the others. If it calls for a factual answer, then, yes, I will look first to see if someone else has already given the answer. And if they are correct I will not answer.

When I read the question and it's interesting enough and I have knowledge on that particular topic, I don't read any-ones answers as that is very off-putting to my train of thought.
It wouldn't change my opinion, but I wouldn't answer if I thought someone had already covered the ground I was going to.
I think , for me anyway it's best to do it that way and then scroll up and see who else answered and I usually give them a thumbs up or down (or not at all)!

No. You're asking my opinion, and my opinion is not dependent upon the opinions of others.
Also, I usually want to get my answer in ASAP because people usually only read the first 5 on the page.

No, I just tend to answer with my words in my way.
Then I read other's answers, and if I find I've got the wrong end of the stick I'll edit to apologise and give a better answer for the question.

I answer first, then go back and read what others said. Sometimes my answer is the same or nearly the same as theirs, sometimes the answers are enjoyable because they are creative, informative or challenging, but I always learn from them.

I will scroll the Answers if I come up with an Answer that is a Pun to the Question. I check to see if someone beat me to it. If they did, I cuss, and see what else I can come up with.

I always answer first. I find that when reading other answer first, you kinda get discouraged if someone's answered something similar to what you planned on answering. So, I get my 2cents in first, then I read what others have said...

always.
I hate repeating something thats already been said - boring! if I can't come up with something new i won't bother posting.
and also sometimes the secondary comments are more interesting to respond to.
