Acer laptops do have technical support in the United States. That computer with those specs is not worth 359, in my opinion. Keep in mind that the laptop is at least 9 months old. Laptops nowadays have 2GB RAM. See if you can find one for a cheaper price. Just a suggestion. Dell laptops are good, I use one myself. I'm just not 100% sure if they have US technical support.

Most brand name laptops are pretty good.

Dell, Compaq, HP, Toshiba, Acer, Assus and so on.

My person view is that Sony laptops tend to be good quality but a little overpriced. Partly this is because they use an International pricing policy, so their price is the same in every country.

Generally I find the choice is not price but features. Often the laptop I choose is the one which has the right connectors and pointing device.

I also consider the after sales service to be very important. I have had trouble with Dell's after sales service in 3 countries (US, China and Australia). But I can't say any of the other brands are any better.

You pay cheap, you get cheap. Sorry but I don't like Dell. The only good hing about this laptop is the graphics card but it only comes with vista basic which is rubbish from what I have heard.

If you want to appreciate vista you need at least the premium version as the basic doesn't run the aeros side of vista.

If you want a better machine look at the Acer and HP models below. They don't have vista but I have the Acer and our accountant has the HP. Both are very good machines.

If you want a deent machine with vista then look at the Compaq from pc world. One of my mates has just bought this and said its a cracking machine.

Hope this helps

You could buy a copy of Micro Mart computer magazine, it's only £1.99 and you will find numerous adverts. There are some excellent bargains in reconditioned as new laptops with a full warranty. Also a lot of brand new at discount prices. It's also a good magazine if you want to know a little more about how things work. Hope this helps

I like Dell too. But, I brought a Gateway instead. Until Dell fix the battery problem. I would go with a Gateway for now. Acer is questionable product.

Yes. I think it is good because I have a bunch of Dell Computers (about over 50) at my school.

I've had a Dell for a couple of years and have no complaints. I'd say go for it!
