Go to Sydney. Adelaide is the best kept secret in Australia, and we would like to keep it that way. Great Food, Great Wine, Pleasant People, and a lot better traffic flow than Sydney. Go to Sydney. Keep the myth alive!

For a holiday, Sydney is a traveller's hub, full of interesting attractions, a beautiful harbour, and it's the biggest city in Oz. Most overseas visitors and students head to Sydney, as it's the best known Aussie city and the intn. airlines' services favour Sydney by a long shot. You may be surprised by Adelaide. Commonly known as the city of churches, it's much more than that, with great beaches that out rate Sydney, great nightlife, entertainment, fantastic food and the title as the arts capital of Australia. It's beautifully relaxed, and often referred to as a 20 minute city: 20 minutes from the city to either the beach or the Adelaide Hills. If you do go to Adelaide, try plan your trip to take in March. You'll be treated to numerous festivals that make the city what it is. Go to Adelaide!

Depends on what you like? If you want a Hectic lifestyle with expensive housing and traffic jams and people everywhere go to Sydney, more to do there, more to see, but full on, now if u want a relaxing lifestyle with cheaper housing go to Adelaide. A 4 bedroom house in Sydney would range between $600,000 plus, in Adelaide the same house for $350,000. The traffic is easy, you can drive thru Adelaide during peak hour in 10 mins, try that in Sydney? so it depends on you, Sydney is nice but expensive and hectic, Adelaide is nice but the stress factor is 2 out of ten, where Sydney is 10+++++++...

Sydney has great shopping, restaurants, night life (every night!), great beaches, friendly natives and loads of interesting tourist attractions. Adelaide is not called 'The City of Churches' for nothing.

Sydney to party.
Adelaide to relax and 'chill out'
They are complete opposites of each other, each unique and beautiful in it's own way. Sydney's relatively expensive, but "alive" - Adelaide's cheaper.. but quieter in every respect.

hi looking at the answers you have so far i would say it far more depends on what you are looking for - living or holiday?
for living i would say adelaide - there is loads to do but much cheaper! think it would be a a good idea to try out both if you can but sydney is so diverse if i were you i would do my homework to see whats on when you intend to travel!
Syndey i think is more like london - never sleeps! but expensive but if its a holiday then why not push the boat out (if you can!)
wherever you go you will have a great time! good luck!

Sydney!!!
You can't go to Australia without seeing the Sydney harbour Bridge and Opera House> So much to see and do in sydney. Try and see the Blue mountains too as they are spectacular

Go to both, the flight between the cities is quite short and by going to both you'll see the diversity that Australia has to offer.Sydney is a cosmopolitan city in every respect whereas Adelaide is quiet, relaxed, peaceful, easy to get around etc.
