u have passion, u have an ambition, business or acadenic or watever. u face few dificulties and struggling a bit. now istead of encouraging u, ur family tells u to give up, tell u, how dat is not gonna work. they tell u how its been too long trying dat and things. is it love,pity, protection or wat?

Family can be most exploitative and most valuable. The difference is like everyone else, family is very selfish. If they get something-status, credit for your success anything they will be supportive. Mind all the work must be yours, but they like others do not want to give anything-patients.
If you have a goal in your life, go get it for yourself. do not seek approval or disapproval from anyone, including your family.

This is only uncertainty to the future. Your family is afraid you will fail and how you will take your failure. They dont want you to tread into the untested grounds of life, and want you to walk their path. They want to make you like them because thats the only life they know. They arent enemies of your dreams, they just dont understand. They are ignorant. I suggest you stay strong on your decisions and go ahead and do what you want to. Its your life. Carve it like you want! Your parents wont live your life ever. Once they are dead, you will be left alone with the decisions they made. And no one to help you if those decisions were wrong. So just hang on your dreams buddy, they will come true! And that day, I hope your parents come round and see reality too. Best of luck!

Your family does not want to see you fail. But, if it is your dream than keep trotting on....Milton Hershey went bankrupt 6 times before hitting it big in chocolate! Sometimes you have to fail to learn to succeed!!

I don`t think it`s love, because when you love someone you encourage them not discourage them. I don`t think it`s pity either. Protection maybe, i could see that more than love and pity, but even if their intentions are good, they are not doing anything for your self esteem. Are they loving people?

they hate to see you struggle. they want your life to be easy and comfortable. my advice, prove them wrong. nothing worth having is easy to get. so go ahead and struggle, when you finally achieve whatever it is you are after, they will swell with pride for you

maybe they're to afraid that you'll keep failing then you'd be depressed... so they're trying to get over it... just try to convince them that no matter what you'll always try to achieve your goals... time after time they'll realize that they need to encourage you.. tell them, that you need their encouragement and that you'll feel better if you knew they're trying to help you achieve your goals.. talk to them about it...
