Black is a color or the absence of it. However black is a adjective used when describing something negative. It's also used to describe people of color. Go figure.

I don't think black or white are actual colors. I think they are shades or the basics. red, green, blue, orange, pink, purple etc. are colors. You would use black mixed in with those colors to make them darker, you would mix in white to make those colors lighter.

black is how we see something that emits practically none of the light it receives, instead it absorbs, hence why people say you'll be hot in that dark top etc..
