Both will be understood, and probably considered acceptable by most readers. It may be that "female actor" is the prescribed term according to some school of political correctness, but I'm not sure about that.

As far as style goes, "actress" is the only choice - "female actor" sounds like a modern monstrosity, a feeble attempt at removing gender differences only to bring them straight back in again. At best, it has an uncanny clinical feeling to it, like something out of a police report.

ACTRESS as per dictionary means:

ac·tress (āk'trĭs) = n. A woman who is an actor

So when you sat Actress automatically it implies a female.

If you want to use the word ACTOR, then FEMALE ACTOR is the correct way of expressing.

So BOTH ARE CORRECT AND ARE IN VOGUE

An actor is one who is a theatrical performer and so could be either a male or a female. A female actor is also called actress.
What is now the practice is to use the word 'actor' for performers of either sex.
