Liked both of his books as well but I preferred his Brothers book I think it was called Swimming Monk or something similar by Malachy McCourt, a very funny book..

Work in a bookshop in London. Teacher man is the one you are looking for.
I met him once at a book signing and he is a really nice and charming man. I know you might expect me to say that, but I have organised other signings by authors who are completely rude, boring, and IN A HURRY!
PS: For information, the very best authors for book signings are Joanna Trollope, Jilly Cooper and Andy McNab. They are polite, friendly, and genuine. Sophie Kinsella is also very sweet. PS: Jilly Cooper always brings a box of chocolates to the shop, and Joanna Trollope always remembers your name. (So does Marian Keyes). I could send you some names who are the reverse but I won't in case I get taken to court!.

Teacher Man but it, in my opinion, neither that nor 'tis are as good as Angela's Ashes!

Like the person above said it is called Teacher Man.

His brother also has two memoirs available but I've not read them and they get quite mixed reviews...

personally the whole tortured 'orish' childhood genre has rather been done - prefer McGahen's Amongst Women
