It seems idealization is good only in theory, huh?

We all have, at one point in time, acted on the desire to make things 'better'. The problem is: we forget to assess the negative impact our 'corrections' may incite in others. Sometimes, we fail to even consider the wishes of others who are directly involved. It seems we need to hone our skills at differentiating between what is actually ‘broke’ and what is simply less than perfect.

I am guessing this is relationship-based, as that seems to be the most common manifestation of this problem. We try to MAKE things better, forgetting to nurture them along. This is a mistake many parents make with their children and many lovers make with their partners; they try too hard.

Yes this has happened to me, as I suspect it has happened to most people. The only thing I can say is learn from it. Try to realize what lines were crossed during the "fixing" and deduce ways to avoid crossing them in the future.

And remember...

Things can ALWAYS be better, but trying to force them to be will inevitably make them worse. Sometimes, by embracing what seems mediocre, you find a whole new level of 'perfection'.

I think this happened to me like 20 years ago one time. Don't remember what the item was.

your question is little confusing. do you mean "have you ever fixed something before it breaks" but then again how can you fix something that is not broken.
