Because it seems to me that people care a lot about finding someone to be with. It's the subject of songs and sitcoms and in there is always a love scene in a movie.
Is there anything else that's MORE important?

Its a question of priorities isn't it. Technically speaking, yes there ARE more important things, such as food, water and shelter, but in our society the majority of people take those as a given, and so attention turns to the more social aspects of living - such as finding someone to be with - rather than the practical side of simply geting by.
Try being without one or more of the essentials for any length of time and you will soon get some perspective on what is more important; for example, how many homeless people do you think lie awake at nights worrying about if their girlfriend/boyfriend is upset with them, etc.

I think that a vast majority of people would say that there is nothing more important than love. In my case the love of my 4 year old daughter is the most important thing in my life EVER. Those who say health is more important, I'm not so sure, and I believe that love CAN cure illness. Keep in mind the difference between loving someone and being in love with someone, the first is much more profound and is always forever.

I think the most important thing in life is happiness, which can be in a different forms of things for some love.

Love is about as important as dousing your arm in petroleum and holding a lit match to it, unless your goal in life is to breed like a cockroach.
Love is that point where instinct takes over, reason is thrown out of the window... and is the single circumstance where even the desire to stay alive is put aside in a desperate bid to have gratuitous sex and spawn progeny.
It only seems to self-renew in humans because humans happen to have a very long gestation period, and making progeny is only worthwhile if they survive to adulthood themselves.... which requires a long-term interaction between the male and female toward the mutual goal.
But essentially... the moment you fall in love, your higher thinking abilities get the proverbial lead pipe to the kneecaps...
... And that is why I am working hard on reprogramming my subconscious to nullify any capability to experience it further.

Living life the way you feel is most meaningful to you. To some people, they say its finding the right one and spend the whole life with them that is why they say love is the most important thing. Some people say the most important thing in life is their job because they feel their job is very meaningful to them such as doctors. So it really depends on a person. The most meaningful thing to them will be their most important thing in life.

Yes, it is the most important thing. I'm not just talking about love between a man and a woman. I'm talking about that between siblings, friends, parents and children. These feelings sustain us and make us who we are. I can't think of anything more important.

Respect is most important. You can not have love without respect. With respect you can have peace and harmony, and tranquility. With respect there is no room for selfishness, and that is the reason for all social problems in the world in all of history and the present - if you don't have respect for the other inhabitants of the earth, it is breeding grounds for trouble. YA doesn't seem to care because they have racist people that work for them, and protect the bigots that agree with their views. Counterproductive and devastating to society.

Well! Love of your family and friends goes without saying. But, love of a special person, nice if you find it but not the most important to me. I think peace of mind is very important.

Yes love is the most important thing life. Love is the special feeling that you cant expect in return. We know the love is important but we should put it into action. We need to work hard as to achieved our goal in life, we have family that we need to support and security that we need to give

Not love. Love is only one aspect of Hope. Hope and Despair because they go together, in fact the most important factor of happiness is a correct balance between the members of this duality (hope/despair).
Read Schopenhauer for ex.
