I suppose if we knew the meaning of life, we'd have no purpose on earth.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

To lay the verbal smackdown on idiots who constantly ask what the meaning of life is.

No. Here is your answer.....
And this is for the 6th time...

LIFE HAS NO PURPOSE.
"Purpose" is a human fallacy... an accidental simplification of the pattern-recognition process we use to survive. It doesn't exist in real terms and it certainly doesn't apply to anything higher than the actions of a group of like-intentioned organisms. Definitely does NOT apply to the general functioning of the Universe.

The meaning of life is both profound and simple.

It answers the order of creation, the motive of existence and the mystery of the universe to ourselves.

The meaning of life is:
Awareness Loves Life (A-L-L)
See: http://ucadia.org/uca/u23/230600.htm

Unfortunately, because we are life, we see the statement as
Life Loves Awareness (L-L-A).

But if you were able to comprehend just one thought of the universe from its perspective, then you'd see that the greatest expression of existence is life- that the key to life is existence.

That living is more important than knowing everything.

For example, there is a wonderful quote from buddhism-
before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water;
after enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.

Sadly, we sometimes are mistaken in believing that if we knew everything, our lives would be better. I can assure you that is not the case. Living is what counts.

All the very best.

There can be no real purpose or meaning in life without a Creator. Your very question excludes our being here by accident.

We have two choices, we can live to seek our Creator or we can live to seek good feelings. It's the difference between joy and happiness.

God created us for himself so the purpose or meaning of life is to know Him, to love Him, to serve Him and to be happy with him in the next life.
Peace and every blessing!

The end all of questions..the king mack daddy of all of them..the one that is rumored to be asked of your spirit the day you leave this physical existence..The answer is simple..to love everyone as you love yourself..to understand the motivations of all humans..To know you have the essence of a supreme being inside of you..and everyone around you is a part of you..your brothers and sisters...there are no accidents..and this life is just a form of school so to speak..your here to learn understanding, wisdom, forgiveness, kindness, pretty much get all the pride beat out of you..plus have some physical experiences like touch, taste, feel things that a purely spiritual being might not get to experience..and as a added bonus to learn how to trust in something above you completely so you don't fear anything...which is the one thing that will kill faith quick..fear is the absence of knowledge and spiritual strength..the meaning of life to learn how to love all things, with no fear and complete understanding, kindness, and wisdom towards everything in this universe

Each person finds their individual "meaning" to life.

For some, it may involve marriage and family.
For another, it might be teaching an academic subject or tutoring a young artist or musician.
For another, it might be complete, total hedonism.
For another, it might be the life of a slacker; taking the path of least resistance wherever possible.
