There are a variety of things that I do with a book once I've finished it. In most cases it finds a place on my shelf, so that I can lend it to friends, read it again, or use it as a reference. If I don't care for the book I donate it or box it away. I have so many books that if I don't really like one it never ends up on my shelfs of treasures.

I put it on my shelf to read again some other time. Or if I'm feeling nice or I know one of friends wants to read it I will loan it to them. Once a year though I clean out my books & donate the ones I didn't really like to a charity or a jail. I read a lot, so if I didn't do this my whole house would be filled with books.

I put it on my book shelf to read again later or I pass it on to someone else to read. I have read most of my books at least 3 or 4 times. Some I have read as many as 15 times. Once you find a good book, it is hard not to reread it. At least it seems that way for me!

If I really love it I will keep it. Sometimes I give them away to other people. If I didn't really like the book all that much and if I can't think of anyone who would want it, I give it to our local library. They sell donated books and magazines.

Now with some nicer magazines, I save them up for hospital visits (we go a lot) and I put them in the waiting room or nurses' lounge.

It depends:

1) if it's from 1 of my favorite authors, than it gets put away on the shelf with the rest of that authors' books.

2) if it's borrowed from the library, then it goes back there

3) if it's purchased, read, and I don't like it - then I donate it to the local library.

If it is a library book I usually return it.
If it is a personal copy and think that a friend would like it I give it to a friend to read.
I also register it on a website like bookcrossing or bookins
so I can trade it for books that I haven't read.
If it is a book I want to keep it goes on a bookshelf.

Keep it - almost always; I'm one of those creatures who simply can't bear parting with books unless they're at the very end of the uselessness scale.

And if I've really enjoyed it I'll look out for some more copies to give to friends.

Put it on one of my many bookshelves or lend it to my boyfriend. I've re-read most of my books and will probably do so again at some point in the future.

If I have some books that I decide I don't want to re-read, I generally give them to Goodwill.

I will always pass my finished books on to friends. If it is a book I particularly liked, I will still pass it on, and pick up a fresh copy for the book shelf...

if it's really good, i try to convince my friends to read it. i'm hoping they'd fall in love with it too and we can share the experience. unfortunately, this is usually not the case and most of these books are unread/unreturned. so i now have a collection of books that are not so great since the good ones are with other people! haha.
