Write it on your hand or a napkin. If they have their mobile, you could give them your number.

Well, you can ask for a pen, a paper, and a phone number. Sometimes their instant messenger name is easier to memorize...ask about that. Ask for their name and remember that, and then go look it up in the phonebook or in Information. Ask if they're listed. Work it into the conversation to ask where they work...go visit them and be prepared with a pen/paper. Ask if you can see them again and make plans later...or ask if they want to go out for a walk and then you can build up their trust to tell you where they live, then drop by sometime and tell them you would have called but you didn't have the number...and then have them give you the number and make sure it's written down.

Practice memorizing until you can get a pen and paper.
Better idea is to carry one with you at all times. They have the little pocket pens that you can buy. Have some cards made with you name and phone number on them. Give them a card an ask them to call you. Also, you can use the back of these cards for their phone numbers.

I have an excellent memory so I would just memorize it. I f you don't have a good memory, ask someone else for a pen & paper. You could give the other person your # and they could put it in their phone.

You can always try to find a easy way to remember the person's number. Find a pattern or something...
Other than that, you can always give the person YOUR contact info and see if he/she would call back.
Also, you can always quickly find your close friend to see if they have a phone or paper to go on with your business.

Give them your number and let them do the chasing?
Or, go to the bar and ask if you can borrow pen and a paper?
