I was driving my 2004 Subaru Impreza when the 'Check Engine' light came on. Also the 'Cruise Control' light came on and started flashing. The cruise control does not work now. I checked the level of fluids including oil and they all seem to be normal. Does anyone know what could have triggered this?

thanks!

I've seen these before when I used to work as a service adviser at Subaru shops. This is a sensor problem that needs to be scanned and changed, reset by the dealer. It may be covered under warranty.

tighten up your gas cap .. sometimes air can get into gas tank and it might screw up your computer system in your car
hmmm your best bet with cruise control is probably computer is creating an error. Oil and fluids have nothing to do with cruise control flashing. My gut feeling is it is electric problem with one of the wires.

check for a vacuum leak. had the same problem and it turned out to be a solenoid.
