what kind of asenine reasoning brings you to that conclusion... betraying anyone's trust is wrong! If everybody cheated... there would be no love... in other words, in Kantian terms, cheating is wrong... regardless of the motivation... if everybody lied... there would be no truth... and truth is something that is necessary in life... Truthfulness is a philosophical imperative as defined by Kant!!! (a supreme MUST DO... for our civilization to survive!)

Cheating is wrong no matter what sex does it. To generalize and say all men who cheat don't do it with emotion is silly. Some men cheat because they are lacking emotion from their spouses at home and some women cheat on their men for sex not emotional attachments. Especially if their man don't know how to satisfy them sexually anymore. They might still love their husband and not want to leave him so the best thing they think they can do is to find a temporary fix and come back home.

FYI women have sexual feelings as well and sex may not have anything to do with emotions. The same with men they maybe using sex as an emotional outlet as well. You are perpetuating age old myths that have no validity. Yes I believe it is equally wrong for either males or females to be unfaithful.

If we're talking about plain old cheating, then personally I think it is bad when men cheat of out lust... but it is just as bad or even worse when women does it for money. No sexism intended... because this goes the same for men.

A very interesting and thought provoking question. and I'm glad you have qualified, right away, that it is disgusting either way...that means I don't have to state the obvious...

Because women need to feel a connection - emotional or intellectual, in order to have sex, I would say that it would be more of a betrayal. Men (generalizing here, of course), can go out and get drunk and find someone very attractive and do things they certainly would never do sober. Also, a man's ego is all tied up in his ability to attract the opposite sex...its only natural. That is the case with women as well, but it isn't as strong an impulse as it is with men...

I don't think men and women are so different to the point that we cheat for different reasons. I think either you are the type of person who cheats or you aren't. If you are unhappy with your relationship or if you are attracted to someone else, then break up with the person first instead of cheating on them... But I digress, In answer to your question, both things are equally a terrible thing to do to someone, whether you are a women or a man...

Both are the same wrongness. They both come from lack of control, lack of respect, lack of commitment, and a lack of caring for the one they are with. I believe that God created man to cleave to one wife. This whole idea of leaving one man or woman and running to someone else make me sick. Love does not come from new romances but true love endures and is something that must take work to achieve. You can't fall in love with someone but you can fall in lust with someone the same as with money or a car. Love takes work just like trust takes work.

Both are disgusting, but I think both are done with emotion, not just the women...women may be seeking more emotion from the situation, but men also stroke their ego by doing so..=)

I think that it is equal, they both are wrong and you are right, men do it out of lust, and women do it out of emotion. I think that women often will tell their spouse that they need more attention, giving them the chance to full fill their needs, but men don't really tell their wives what they want in their lust. So the wife does not stand a chance to stop her husband from cheating. So I think that it is the man, because he never gives his wife a chance to be what he wants.
