Would you understand if your kid told you that: they were working really hard on their homework and just couldn't finish it, and that they needed a day to just regain themselves and finish it up. Would you give them the day off of school?

I'm a mom of a hs student and yes, if I can take a day off from work to recoup and to catch up on other things or just relax and go for lunch with some friends then why can't my child. Every so often I'll say "wanna play hookie" ? and we'll go shopping together or something. Talk to your mom and just say you need a day to clear your head of school stress. Try to set a schuedule with days and times in order of importance including your chores, bath time, and check things off as you do them. This has worked wonders in my home with getting hw and everything else done. Most of the time my kids finish ahead of schuedule and they get rewarded at the end of the week with a small treat like a trip to the ice cream parlor. Maybe this is something Mom can help you out with. Try it and see I bet it'll work out.

yes i probably would let you stay home for a day, that's if you are doing as well as you say you are but you have to no that being an a student comes with great challenges and responsibilities. so you can decide on that one too. if you value your school as much as you say you know that missing a day want let you be recognized for perfect attendance, i no it's hard and i'm not going to sugar coat it or lie, it will be and get harder, but it's your future not your parents so you have to live with that in the end. don't get me wrong i can believe that you are stressed and tired but the weekend is near so you make the choice. i know it might was not all of what you wanted to hear but i hope it can help.

I would look at the homework and ask why he/she had trouble finishing it. I would not let them stay home from school. I would assume that they had a certain amount of time to finish it, but they put it off until the last minute. If that is the case, go to school and face the consequences. Live and learn.

a day off school?
1. There must be an underlying reason.
try to find out subtly, lest your kid will think that you don't trust them.
2. manipulation...
trying to gauge your parental skills.
3. Pray and ask the good Lord above, for guidance.

You should have organized your time better so you could complete it on time You will have to face the consequences of not having it done If that was corporate America yoo would have just lost the client .Sorry but you could not stay home

Possibly.
However, one of the things you must experience as a child, are the consequences of your actions, good and bad. This may be one of those times.

Probably not. I would think that they put off doing it until it was too late to complete it.
