x^2 + 7x + 12 =
x^2 + 7x + (7/2)^2 - (7/2)^2 + 12 =
(x + 7/2)^2 - (49 - 48)/4 =
(x + 7/2)^2 - 1/4 =
(x + 7/2 - 1/2)(x + 7/2 + 1/2) =
(x + 3)(x + 4)

(x+3)(x+4)=
x^2+3x+4x+12=
x^2+7x+12
